Productive Safety Leadership

Often organizational leaders are chosen for their technical acumen, not for their “soft skills”. Yet, it is these very skills that become so crucial in making leaders effective in getting the performance they desire. This workshop will present a leadership model based on the tenets of Safety-II, Human and Organizational Performance (HOP), and Resilience Engineering that challenges the old paradigm of strong leaders who create strict accountability. Instead, attendees will learn a leadership style designed to enable creative problem solving and innovation in workers rather than simply to force compliance.

What You’ll Learn

  • The downsides of the traditional model of ‘strong’ leadership
  • How to enact a leadership style that brings out the best in people
  • The importance of tapping into psychological motivators, such as autonomy, mastery and purpose
  • How to create conditions that inspire workers, facilitate trust and create resilient performance
